Steady nerves, minor insomnia, and a lack of dignity. Sound like fun? You’ve come to the right place.
A Day to Play is a one act play competition with a twist (that might be given away in the name); teams have 24 hours to write, rehearse, and prepare their play before they perform it in front of a live audience.
Starting at 6:30pm on Saturday the 25th, rules will be read to the teams (4-6 people) and prompts will be handed out. At 7pm the event starts; writers (or the whole team if you decide to do it that way) have exactly 12 hours to write the scripts. Script readings start by 7:30am on Sunday and rehearsals start after that. Regardless of how ready you are, the show starts at 7pm. After the show, awards are handed out and there’s a small after party (you deserve it after that) where you can mix and mingle with other teams and people from the club.
You know how movie stars get months to perfect their craft and blooper reels as long as your arm to cover up their mistakes? Yeah – this isn't like that. If you think you've got what it takes to write, direct, or act in one of the most fun and accessible drama events of the year, sign up below.
