Get ready for a night of never-before-seen plays; written, directed and performed by your fellow students (and honorary students 😉). All prepared within 48 hours before they come on stage and compete for the audience’s attention and applause. Also in the event will be some improv fun from the Say What? troupe.
This is your chance to join the Club Exec
The AGM is the most important event of the year, giving you the opportunity to be filled in on what has been happening throughout the year and the financial situation of the club, to have your say regarding changes to the constitution, and to run for Committee positions in 2019.
Refreshments will be provided.
A Trivial Comedy for Serious People
by Oscar Wilde
When Algernon discovers that his friend, Ernest, has created a fictional brother for whenever he needs a reason to escape dull country life, Algernon poses as the brother, resulting in ever-increasing confusion.
DramaSoc's very own play competition that gives you 24 hours to write, workshop, learn and perfect an original piece of theatre before putting it on stage is back! Whether you're a theatre veteran who could learn a script with your eyes closed, or a brand new, bushy-tailed performer who wants to give it a go, this is the event for you.
One of the best ways for a writer to hear the play is through a rehearsed reading. These can often be a good way for trained actors to make a few extra dollars on the side and be a part of the creative process in developing a script. The two hour workshop will centre around the process of developing text for a rehearsed reading, making strong character choices, and bringing as much to the text as possible.
After the success of last year's sessions, Dramasoc is proud to present two more workshops with experienced theatre practitioner Alice Canton. This time around we will be exploring how to take an idea from concept to proposal to full-blown show.
