3SOME Auditions are just around the corner!
Come and audition to be a part of 3SOME 2018, we have three awesome original scripts for people to sink their teeth into. Auditionees will be able to look over the scripts in the audition waiting room and let us know which characters they're interested in.
The three shows are:
"Service, Please!" by Cameron Lines
"Welcome to Heaven" by James van Dyk
"Party at Sarah's House" by Craig Westenburg
Rehearsals for 3SOME will be on Monday nights and Wednesday nights sometime after 7pm, and Saturday during the day. They will be starting on 23rd April, exact times TBC. The shows themselves are on the 16th, 18th and 19th of May.
Auditions can be booked by emailing auditions@dramasoc.org.nz with your preferred time(s) between 3 and 9 on Saturday or Sunday. Auditionees need not prepare a monologue, but are encouraged to arrive to the waiting room early to read over the scripts. Auditions will be held in DW1 in the Jack Mann complex.
What is 3SOME? We take 3 original scripts, grab 3 directors, cast 3 casts and spend 3 weeks putting together 3 shows with $33 budgets each to run for 3 nights for $3 tickets. A bit of crazy fun that only takes a few weeks of your time!
Directors
Dougal Frame
Directing: Service, Please!
This is Dougal's first time working with DramaSoc. He's very disappointed that, unlike what the name suggests, there are far fewer socks than anticipated - considering the rate at which he loses his. He is, however, relieved that there will be fewer threesomes than he had initially expected. This will be his second time directing a play over the course of three weeks, and he hopes he still has the magic touch to pull it off. NO NOT LIKE THAT!
Pim van Duin
Directing: Welcome To Heaven
Secretly I am an ant controlling a humanoid robot. I sit in the empty skull surrounded by all sorts of controls, like a pilot in a cockpit. I made this robot about 20 years ago in the Netherlands, then after about 4 years living there I moved to NZ. I lived in Whangarei for the next 13 years like I was living life as a normal human being, doing normal human things like eating, having fun, and going to school. In early 2015 I moved to live here in Christchurch, continuing with normal human activities like theatre, art, and watching films (I like 'Them!' from 1954 the best). And so far, no one has realised that I am, in fact, an ant piloting a humanoid robot.
Liam Boardman
Directing: Party at Sarah's House
Liam had the chance to step away from responsibility of DramaSoc, but he foolishly stuck around, and now he's stuck with it. After a long break from performing in plays since DramaSoc's 2015 production of Hamlet, Liam has begun treading the boards again, performing in this year's Moonfleece as Tommy. Despite many years of plays, this is Liam's directorial debut, so he hopes the resulting rush of power doesn't go to his head. He hopes you enjoy this 3SOME!
