DramaSoc

The University of Canterbury Drama Society Incorporated

We're a student society, that doubles as a theatre company, with almost 100 years of experience running shows, festivals, and general hi-jinks. We aim to produce quality shows, promote a safe space to give theatre a go, and support drama and performing arts in the wider Christchurch community.

Say What? Improv Workshops?

  • DW2, Jack Mann Auditorium 53 Solway Avenue Christchurch, Canterbury, 8041 New Zealand (map)

Have you ever been lost for words when you watch someone improvising? Have you been dumbfounded when someone has talked about blocking, barbecue scenes, magic pockets or the curve of absurdity? Do you want to make people laugh or cry (or at least stop twiddling their thumbs) when you perform? Then this series of workshops is for you!

On each Monday night of the university lecture break DramaSoc's very own improv group, Say What, is running a series of workshops in DW2 designed to help you understand the lingo of improv and to help you grow as an improviser. It's fun, educational, and best of all it's free!

April 9th: Say Who?

In the second workshop we will be discussing how to best use your body and voice to their biggest potential. You have a whole stage and a big set of lungs to use and we want to help you unlock the full potential of both!
