Rehearsed Reading Workshop with Edward Bijl

  • KF07 26-56 Kirkwood Ave Christchurch, Canterbury, 8041 New Zealand (map)

Edward has recently returned from the UK where he trained in a Masters degree in Acting at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He then worked and tutored in London, and was at the helm of establishing theatre company, Heady Conduct.

This weekend he is running a workshop for actors on rehearsed readings. When new plays are written they often go into a developmental stage where the writer will retouch, tweak, and edit. One of the best ways for a writer to hear the play is through a rehearsed reading. These can often be a good way for trained actors to make a few extra dollars on the side and be a part of the creative process in developing a script. The two hour workshop will centre around the process of developing text for a rehearsed reading, making strong character choices, and bringing as much to the text as possible.

Rehearsed Readings are also a good way to keep in form as it enables the actor a chance to play, and can also be good for the acting CV showing that you are actively working in the industry.

We are asking for a $5 koha from those taking part.
